When L2 use is mainly limited to the classroom and textbooks, Japanese students need additional exposure in order to help them make sense of the language. Furthermore, university student study time outside of class is decreasing according to the Japanese Government. With these issues in mind, Extensive Reading (ER) was made part of the new ELF program at Tamagawa University in 2012. This study examines to what degree and in what manner teachers incorporated ER into their syllabi. |
