Summary

Digital teaching materials that incorporate videos and computer graphics have the potential to offer significant benefits in the field of science education. The use of digital teaching materials makes it possible to show the students the process of development, by which an adult human being gradually grows from an egg, in less time and from different aspects. However, commercially available software to generate digital teaching materials is very expensive. A high-performance computer is also necessary and advanced techniques are required to master it. Economic and technical limitations make it difficult for a science teacher to prepare his or her own digital teaching materials. Therefore, the present study proposed the use of home PC and software, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Internet, to easily create digital teaching materials. In this paper, ImageJ and other such free software were utilized to create videos of the processes involved in Amphibia regeneration. The software was also used to prepare 3D models of Amphibia embryos. The method introduced in this paper could be useful in the preparation of digital materials that cover topics on various life phenomena.
