Jean-Luc Godard’s appeal has been at the forefront since he established a firm position as a flag
bearer of the New wave (French: La Nouvelle Vague), with the exception of the 1970’s. Although he is
now a leading film director in the 21st century, in his creations he always adopts avant-garde methods
and is willing to continue to search for new expressions. There are many studies on Godard from the
perspectives of aesthetics, philosophy, sociology. However, in this paper, I take up “Nouvelle Vague”
(1990) and attempt a practical analysis based on a sequence. With this approach, I consider the
sounds (auditory) and images (visual) that constitutes the movie as the same dimensional elements
that create a sequence. Then, after indicating the methods on how they are connected and joined and
the method of forming a context, the effects caused by them will be considered.
