Aspects of ‘Numeratives’ in Japanese

「4冊の本を買った」は適格だが「4の本を買った」は不適格であるというように、モノを数えるときに日本語では数詞(「4」)単独では使えず、「4冊」の「冊」のような助数詞を使わなければならない。しかし、英語ではfour booksのように可算名詞を数えるときには数詞を単独で使う（名詞が複数形になることも付随するが）。一方、「5箱のリンゴ」の「5箱」は、(i)「リンゴ」の数を表すのと同時に、(ii)「箱」の数も表している。本論文では、まず、(ii)の解釈は、英語の可算名詞の例と平行的であることを明らかにし、次に、日本語にも可算名詞句があることを論じた。
