The Possibility of University Student Community Development Education

In various parts of Japan, efforts are being made to revitalize regions by increasing the number of tourists. Universities are also actively promoting studies on the theme of regional revitalization as a place
for practical social studies. The revitalization of the economy through tourism has been positioned as
one of the important national policies, and there is a need to develop and strengthen the tourism human
resources who are responsible for such policies. In this study, based on the study of a demonstration
project -studycation- conducted in Kozagawa Town, Wakayama Prefecture, the ideal form and issues of
university students’ community development education are discussed.
