The Japanese career education system strives to emphasize the facilitation of a smooth transition for children and students from school into society. The aim of this initiative is to increase young people’s awareness of their career options and choices, and address the many social issues associated within the current modern workplace. The increase in unemployed young people, and the premature resignation are just some of the many social issues facing the young workforce in today’s world. In today’s VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) era, where the labor market is rapidly changing, the advancement of the government initiative ‘Society 5.0’ and the automation and transformation of job content due to AI innovation, it’s crucial to develop not only technical skills but also creativity and critical thinking skills that cannot be replaced by AI. Career education endeavors to help students deepen self-understanding, adapt to societal changes, and shape their own careers, with an increasing number of schools adopting career education programs offered by private companies. This study analyzed the impact of the Career Axis Support Program (CAS Program) provided by Japan Travel Bureau company (JTB) on the career consciousness and focus of high school students in Yamagata Prefecture. To provide a multifaceted evaluation using both standard interview and survey research methods. The findings indicated that through the career education program, students had opportunities to deepen self-awareness and cultivate a positive attitude towards societal engagement. However, the results suggest that further support is necessary for students to develop and implement concrete action plans for their future careers, and that the sustainability of the program’s effects requires ongoing tracking, measurement, and refinement for continued improvement.
