リンゴ果実にオーキシン様物質のSTOPFALLを処理した結果、脱離しやすい早生品種の「つがる」の脱離抑制効果が認められた。その際に離層細胞の形成が認められなかった。脱離しにくい「あかね」では離層形成は認められなかった。本論文は、早生品種であり、需要の多い「つがる」が早期脱離が問題となっていたが、その原因は離層形成されやすい品種であること、オーキシン様物質の前処理により離層形成が抑制されること、を基礎面と応用面から照明した論文である。
