Today’s smartphones are powerful, mobile computing devices capable of performing hundreds of specialized, complex applications to anyone, seemingly anywhere in the world. Mobile computing technology is driving the evolution of many aspects of our academic lives, and for language learners, the process of extensive reading (ER) is one practice being refashioned by smartphone technology. This presentation introduces Xreading?  (), an online graded reader (GR) library and learning management system (LMS) devoted specifically to the digital implementation and management of extensive reading. In this one year study at a private university in Tokyo, Japan, students used a smartphone, tablet or PC to access a vast online library of GR’s. For the faculty who teach them, Xreading provides a dynamic, ER management system designed to provide a broad range of feedback data on students’ reading progress and history.
