[KOURI]
This work is made of glass and molded from a Japanese folk tool called "KOURI" .“KOURI” is originally a box made of woven willow branches, and was used as a wardrobe case, an accessory case, or a lunch box. Today, “KOURI” is is rarely used in Japan, and plastic wardrobe cases and lunch boxes are used. The aim of this project was to preserve the beauty and functionality of “KOURI” in people's memories for a long time ,by giving form to the old folk tools that are being lost through glass.
This glass work is modeled on a box made of woven willow branches, which are no longer used in Japan. Today, we live our lives surrounded by plastic products, but in the past, of course, plastic products did not exist, and people lived their lives using products made of natural materials. Through this work, I would like to retrace such a traditional way of life.
