The JACET Special Interest Group (SIG) on English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) was established in April 2016 to build on the basis of research conducted by the ELF research group at Waseda University and interested researchers and teachers throughout the world. It serves a network of people responsive to ELF use, ELF-related research, and associated pedagogical implications. Together, we aim to 1) enhance ELF-related research, 2) encourage teachers and administrators to consider implications of ELF in their contexts, and 3) contribute to the education of present and future English language teachers. We invite educators and researchers within JACET to join us in better understanding ELF and exploring ELF-related research in education in Japan.
