Contemporary Haiku: Making It New For Learners of English

This paper argues for introducing haiku to learners of English as a lively, contemporary genre of poetry and suggests an approach which enables students to appreciate innovative as well as normative characteristics of English-language haiku, while engaging with a wide range of contemporary subject-matter.
