This article describes the learning model, on the basis of the Global Citizenship Education (GCED) promoted by UNESCO, towards the fostering of the identity as global citizenship which is of the greatest importance for overcoming the escalation of intercultural conflicts in today's world. It contains the approach to introduce GCED into the teacher education programme for primary and secondary level.
